Security Tip
When traveling on public transportation (I.E. bus, train) sit by the driver or the exit if possible.

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast......

I do not think there is a class that I have taught in the past 2 years where I have not said this phrase at least once. Slow is smooth...... smooth is fast. This holds true no matter what training you are receiving.

In an any emergency, we all want to do the right thing quickly. This can be anything from evacuating a building during a fire, to drawing and using our fire arm in self defense.

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

It is not enough that we do it quickly, we must do it correctly as well. In an emergency, it could mean life or death. Now, I am sure this sounds melodramatic to some of you, but that does not make it any less true. When practicing an evacuation, you should walk though it slowly multiple times. You don't need to have an actual evacuation drill to conduct one of your own. Take the time, once a week to leave your office or floor by a different route. Do not use the elevators, since they will be locked down during a real fire. We don't know where the fire or emergency may be, so know alternate escape routes. Learn what the polices and procedures are for your company. Fire, Medical, Bomb Threat, and other emergency procedures. In this day and age, unfortunately, having a plan for an Active Shooter is also very important.

You need these types of plans for your home as well. Do you have an evacuation plan for your home? You should take the time to develop a plan for different emergences. What should your family do in the event of the fire alarm sounding at night?  What about during the day. What to do in the event of the burglar alarm sounding at night or during the day. What if you return home and find the fire or burglar alarm sounding? Have a plan for both you and your family.

Having a plan is only the first step. Practice. Practice. Practice. Practice slow, till it becomes smooth and smooth till you can do it quickly.

We can help you at work or at home to develop, implement and train to be better prepared in case of an emergency. Contact us today.
